STRANGE TOWNS IN FLORIDA

Three entries where you cannot point at the strange thing, because the strange thing is the town.

One is called Christmas and has been since 1837, keeps a decorated tree up all year, and does a heavy trade in postmarks every December. One is called Two Egg, after a barter arrangement at a store that has long since closed, and consists of very little else. One is a neighbourhood of Sarasota where an Amish and Mennonite community winters, arriving by bus, moving around on adult tricycles.

All three are free, because there is nothing to charge for. What you do at each is drive in, look, buy something small from whoever is selling, and drive out, and the whole appeal is that nobody has arranged any of it for your benefit.
